| | Water Fasting

Just started 5 days ago

I came back from summer holidays and was looking at some pictures I took with my family and suddenly realized: "I'm fat!". Decided things needed to change as I cannot continue gaining weight like this. Details: Male, 36yo, 178cm, 86.9kg. Ideal weight: 70kg I started IF 4 days ago and lost 4KG. My hand almost don't shake anymore if I stay still. My blood pressure is 117, 78 and I feel absolutely great. I feel that I gained control over my life. I started doing 1 meal per day very high on animal protein and yesterday I ate a very light meal for lunch as well which made me full until dinner, something that before would not be possible. Is there something you more experienced guys advice for a newbie?

Answer

It’s a marathon, not a sprint. :) That’s the biggest takeaway from this as it’s a total lifestyle switch and not a fast solution diet. That being said, congrats on completing your first week!

Jumping into OMAD is a very big lifestyle switch, a lot of people switch to a 16 hour fast, 8 hour eating window and get practiced before moving up. Be kind to your body :)

No matter what your window: 16:8, 20:4, One Meal a Day, make sure you stay hydrated and with electrolytes. Your best bet is to go to the top there and hit the Wiki link to start your reading on electrolytes and other questions asked about the fasting process.

I read a lot before diving head first and still do about a year later, day after day. It’s a work in progress and I’ve just gotten the rhythm that feels right for me.

Be kind, drink water, get educated! And don’t push yourself too hard. :D
