Just starting out

How strict do I have to be with the window of time consistency? I’m trying to figure out what amount of fasting works best for me & my medical conditions, so my fasting schedule has been pretty scattered. But once I figure out how many hours I should fast, does it have to be the same 16 hr/etc. window every day? My sleep schedule is all over the place so consistency is not easy, but I don’t know if an IF schedule can be thrown off if it varies by a few hours day to day.

Answer

I think it’s about finding what works best for you while getting the results you want. I started with 14 hours a day, but worked up to 16 hrs of fasting. During the work week, my fasting window is 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. During the weekend, I can usually eat dinner by 4 p.m. so my fasting window is a bit different. Because of that, I can go almost 18 hours on weekends.

There have been a few days sprinkled in here and there where I didn’t make it because I was too hungry. But I’m not too worried about that because it’s pretty rare.

Answer

I dont think it matters if your 16hr fast isn’t the exact same time every day. Some days you might do less than 16hrs and some days you might do more depending on how you feel, its all good! As long as you’re in the right ball park you should see the benefits.

Flexibility is good. If you eat an hour early one day, but on schedule the next…that is a 15 and a 17…16 average.

Don’t sweat moving your window. Imo…changing windows and duration is good…your keep your body guessing
