Currently following Keto & 18:6 IF, eating window is 8am-2pm because of meds I have to take every morning with food.
I go to sleep around 10pm, wake up every single morning around 2-3am and CANNOT get back to sleep. Bonus restless legs as well.
After a little research I read about possible cortisol spiking around this time due to the body thinking there’s no food. I have tried a lot of herbal teas, OTC meds, and even rx meds, but nothing helps-I wake up wide awake every morning, 2am or 3am on the dot sometimes.
A few times now I have had a few bites of food and I can instantly feel my body calming down, the RLS gets a little better, and I sleep like a rock-even later than I usually do. But then I’m pissed because I broke my fast too early.
Has anyone ever experienced this? Is there anything I can do? Even when I’m not fasting it happens-I can tell when I’m deep in ketosis because of it. But I started Keto over a year ago and haven’t had this problem until recently. I am cutting back my caffeine intake and plan on getting off of it completely, but I’m a single mother that also just started a summer school class to finish my degree, so I definitely need some most days.
Help?!!!

Have you tried any over the counter sleep aid like unisom? I’ve used it for a long time when I am having insomnia due to stress or whatever. A few days and I’m usually back to normal sleeping through. Also I do not have any groggy affect in the morning. Just my normal don’t want to go to work blues. Although fasting seems to help with those!
