I can say that dry fasting is crazy good for skin. I have had 5 kids and am not at my lowest weight by any means. But I can do a 2 day dry fast and notice MUCH firmer and tighter tummy skin for months afterward. Like it’s a big change. But it’s just my anecdotal evidence since I haven’t done pictures. I plan to do some before my next dry fast. So take that for what you will, but I will tell you it is really impressive for loose skin. I have also done a 15 day water fast, and I noticed that some of my ear piercings started closing up on me during that fast! Those piercings were decades old, too. But even with that, I didn’t really notice much in the loose skin department. Maybe I would have if I had pushed on like the previous poster said, up to the 21 day mark.
Hey brotha
From what I’ve heard dry fasting is great for loose skin. There isn’t too much research out there other then stuff other ppl have said from doing it themselves. From what I heard is it helps a lot. I’m not too experienced with dry fasting and am actually doing a hard 4 day dry fast right now, only thing I’ve done dry fasting wise in the past was a 5 day soft dry fast.
In terms of loose skin and needing to get to a low body fat first. If you have loose skin already it would definitely help with that. Since you wouldn’t have lost the weight yet there really is no loose skin to lose. So from that perspective you need to have lose skin in the 1st place to lose.
Another great method I have heard for loose skin is extended waterfasts! (14+ days) From the websites I do my research on they say that the 3rd week of water fasting (days 14-21) is called the shrink week. Basically what happens this week is that your body eats your loose skin as protein and you could lose inches off your waist or a t shirt size in just this week alone! Only trade off is that you don’t lose 1-3 lbs. per day like you were on days 1-14, you still lose weight just not as much.
Take what I am saying with a grain of salt. At the end of the day people fast how it works best for them and it is best to do your own research! I try to do as much research as I can and that’s how I know this stuff, but I ain’t no doctor!!
Thanks for getting back to me. I was thinking of doing an extended water fast too. I’ll need to work on my microbiome first though as it’s super important.
I’ll be sure to update this forum either way :)
Don’t know about loose skin. I know that skin is very elastic and so should reasonably quickly return to normal after weight-loss, I imagine. D.fasting is the same as w.fasting just much more concentrated, so maybe you’d then have more loose skin more quickly. Changing to natural water for daily swimming will increase your health by factor x1000, primarily because it’s cold; by doing so you’ll access a health-regulating mechanism the body has which is about as effective as dry-fasting.
