Most efficient form of fasting?

So I (29M) have previously had great success with 16:8 IF. Had lost 34kg using it in the past. But after going back to normal eating, gained back around 23kg over 3 years. Since then, i’ve found it much harder to get myself back into a fasting routine. Wondering what people in their own experience have found easier to get them on track. Is it easier to asjust and plan for OMAD, or do people find larger fasting issues get them better results long term? Thanks for any advice and experience you can offer 👌🏼

Firstly: 16/8 should be your “normal” eating pattern. It’s not that hard!

It seems that everyone is different when it comes to being able to tolerate fasting. If you are having trouble, why not start with 14/10 for a couple of weeks. Then increase the fasting period as you go.

The multi-day fasts should only be for short term weight loss or health gains, so definitely do them. But if you go back to eating all day, you’re going to undo all those gains.

Find a fasting routine that you can sustain, then do some longer fasts. When you’ve achieved your goal, drop back to 16/8 or whatever maintains your weight.

Addit:: I should add that 16/8 isn’t hard once you get used to it. If you are used to eating whenever you feel like it, it might take some practice. But, it can be done.

It’s generally good to ease yourself in. I tried OMAD first and once that became easy, I tried an extended fast. I just tried to see how long I could go, and I ended up at 5 days! The first 2-3 days are hardest. And just make sure you’ve got the right kind of mineral supplements

Hey there - I lost about 150 lbs and have kept it off for about 4 years. I eat OMAD most of the time, stay in ketosis most of the time, do a few weeks per year eating whole foods paleo, and 1-2 weeks per year higher carbs. I fast immediately after carbs exposures, and have great success maintaining my ideal body fat. The more carbs, the longer I fast. I do a 5-7 day after the high carbs week, for example. I also do between 1-4 48s per month, one of which is usually a 72. Definitely, OMAD while in ketosis is by far the easiest, most convenient, most energizing, least disruptive way for me to eat. I never feel hungry, only prep, eat and clean up one meal per day, and can save a ton of time and energy for everything else in my life. Just for pure time management and opportunity cost reasons alone, I will eat this way for the rest of my life unless there is some severe medical reason not to
