I struggle with this a lot! This is just my xp: in the first few days I am a purist for autophagy but after that? I do drink some Coke Zero sometimes. I even chewed a piece of gum. Granted this is my first long fast (longest being 72h so far) so I think my discipline isn’t very good just yet! I do understand that I’m losing the full benefits of the fast by doing it dirty, but that tiny kick of flavour gets me through the cravings, so at the end of the day, I fasted longer. I heard though that for some ppl even that little will trigger brutal cravings that will make them abandon the fast. I think I’m lucky cause I’m not hungry. I just want flavour. To help me stay motivated and disciplined I focus on every prolonged fast benefit for health and wellbeing and not just fat loss.I watch my favorite fasting videos and read positive fasting articles online for reinforcement.I also wear snug jeans to remind me of my ‘muffin top’ I’d like to lose.
Perhaps make a motivation list or journal to reflect and refocus.
Also, drink water and stay away from temptation, perhaps.
Maybe trying going on a walk or go to the gym, find some good articles or books on fasting and check those out. Maybe treat yourself with a yummy bubble water, bone broth or some sort of zero calorie drink…you’re doing great so far you got this!
