You know those moments, when you're alone with your thoughts, letting your mind drift this way and that, doing your best to come to terms with your existence?
Well recently, during such a moment of introspection, I realized a couple of changes with my overall health, both physical and mental:

1. About two years ago, my doctor had suggested I start taking sodium bicarbonate supplements to keep my chronic heartburn under control "when needed". So I'd usually pop one or two pills whenever my tummy got too spicy, which would usually happen when I woke up in the morning or whenever I got too stressed. I recently realized that I can't even remember the last time I had to take any sort of antacids.
2. My wife and I were recently deep cleaning our house and we found a bunch of stuff we had thought lost over the last year. Among these items was a ring I had bought ages ago, shortly before meeting my now wife. The largest size available back then was still a little too tight for me, but when I tried on the ring after finding it again, it fit perfectly.
3. I contracted the C-Virus again a couple of weeks ago, and the recovery period was much faster than the last time I was sick before starting IF (ca. five days vs three weeks). Sure, there were certainly a number of factors that played into this one, but I like to believe that fasting and the consequent weight loss played at least a small part in this one.
4. According to my wife, I have become much more even-tempered and less prone to bouts of random crankiness.
5. I think I've already mentioned this in a daily check-in thread some time ago, but my wife, who is rather petite, can finally wrap her arms around my gut and touch her hands together.
Sure, these things may not seem like much on their own, but taken together I can clearly see how far I've come in such a short time. The road to your goals may be long, but it does get easier as time goes on, as long as you stay on the path.
Answer
Non-scale Victory‘s are the best victories! They are my only true metrics because I’m doing IF with body recomposition exercising (burning fat while building muscle) so the scale really doesn’t change much.
Answer
The heartburn one was huge for me. Mine always kept me awake at night. Now I sleep like a baby so not only am I no longer in pain, I also have way more energy. It was actually one of my main reasons for getting back to IF. I’m still baffled that my doctor prescribed drugs instead of just saying, lose some weight and don’t eat in the evening.
