My recent obsession with natto

I’m wondering if anyone has noticed any benefits specifically in terms of beauty or mood? I start eating it because of the probiotics and at first it literally made me gag 🤢 But after eating it for several weeks I’m slightly obsessed. It’s such an acquired taste but now I actually crave it. I really don’t know if it’s made a difference to my health or if it’s more of a long term type benefit

Answer

It offers protein, fiber, and especially high in manganese, magnesium, copper, iron, calcium, zinc, and vit K as mentioned —all important for health. I’ll have to check it out next time I’m near an Asian grocery store—thanks for sharing that! Even if you don’t notice anything yet, you’re getting a good amount of nutrients.

Answer

Hi I’m Japanese and my mom (plus multiple generations of women in the family) swear by natto as a great fermented food for the gut = improved health overall. 70-80% of the immune system is in your gut so what you eat is a major key to good health. Source.

The taste is better than regular lentils imo and they go great with rice and nori. If you like kimchi, have that too!

Answer

Making your own natto is pretty easy also, but it takes some time. I make it in an instant pot. There’s lots of youtube video’s explaining how.

I got interested in it because of it’s high vitamin k2 (mk7) content.

Answer

it’s had the same effect on me (gross at first and then very appealing). try to get the freshest available. i found a local brand and the quality was much higher than the others. it was in a glass jar and pricey but well worth the treat.
