New and a bit Blue

Hey, I'm new to this sub. I'm about 20 lbs over weight I think. 135 at 5'2. I can't get motivated to work out but I think I can cut back on eating. I don't think I look too chubby or anything buy my mom is a super judgy person and I'm tired of her referring to me as fat . I've heard fasting is bad for you though because it makes you gain weight when next you eat. Is it worth it for me to fast you think? I can go hungry before, I've done it so I have the will power but should I do it when I only need to loose roughly 20 to 25 lbs? It looks like others on here are much bigger (no offense anyone, and good for you for trying to better yourselves) Diets arnt working because once I start eating I'm a vacuum. Also I find I'm good for a day or two then I eat waaayore than I should. Just not sure what to think.

Try it!

I disagree with the calorie people and will probably start a fight, but oh well. It’s not really about calories. It’s about allowing your body’s insulin levels to become more normal.

If you want it to work even better, try doing keto on your eating days, or at least unprocessed foods.

Start with short fasts (14 hours) and work up from there. I love 36-hour ones.

Read up on electrolytes while fasting, especially if you’re going to do longer ones.

Cut our sugar, juice, and alcohol completely if possible, as well as any other unnecessary junk.

There is one rule to weight loss: you need to eat fewer calories than your burn over a long period of time. Fasting is a very efficient way to do that, which is why fasting is so effective.

I’d challenge you to try a 48 hour fast. It costs you nothing to attempt, and if it works the results are nearly priceless. Plus, even if you only make it 24 hours, that’s still a win.

At the end of the day, the best weight loss program is the one you can accomplish consistently. Trying different programs is important to find the one that works for you; so I hope you enjoy fasting as much as I do.
