New to fasting: Am I doing it correctly?

I am new to fasting, doing it for 3 days. I ve established to do it like these: 1) breakfast at 10am 2) lunch 1pm 3) dinner 6pm No snacks, no food between these meals. What do you think? Is it okay to have these two big meals (lunch and dinner) so close to each other? Does it works? Thanks a lot in advance!

Answer

It really depends. So you’re eating in an 8 hr window (done by 6, rather than starting by 6 if you don’t want to go over 8 hrs). But if the intake resembles your usual meals, you may not get as much benefit.

If one of the meals, let’s say breakfast, is quite small, it might work better. If you’re used to snacking a lot, and this helps you to stop that habit, you might get more benefits.

If this plan leaves you hungry beyond a few days, you may need to revisit, because that could get better with two larger meals opposed to 3 slightly smaller ones.

I’m fasting around 7pm to 11am, so 16 hrs as well, have just coffee with cream, and then I’m eating usually a big lunch around noon and finish a smaller dinner by 7pm, and it works for me with slow and steady weight-loss.

Good luck!

It really depends on your goals. Fat loss, health, lifespan etc.

16:8 is one of the more popular dating protocols. You are doing that perfectly. You may get some weight loss if you are eating well, lower glucose, lower food cravings, some digestive benefits, and the beginning of better fat burning. If you want to ramp up fat burning and autophagy which has many health benefits you can increase to an 18:6 or do a longer fast once per week or so.
