New to fasting- how do you fast for several days??

Hi, so I'm New here and genuinely confused with some questions. I've been a lot of posts about fasts lasting 5-14 days etc, how do you physically do that?? Do people not eat at all during that time? Do you have liquid calories but not solid foods? Some posts mention omad and other food intakes, doesn't the fast end if you eat? So if you have omad yous be doing 24 hour ish not like 7 days Would love if someone could explain, I'm genuinely confused and want to learn

Plenty of water and green tea only for me. The first 48 hours are the toughest. After your digestive processes slow down then hunger cravings do recede. But it definitely tests your willpower.

Closely monitor your wellbeing and be prepared to stop whenever you need it.

Zero calories. The human body is surprisingly good at going without food. Gets easier once your body gets used to it.

For me reintroducing food is the hardest part - best to go really slow, you can get blood sugar spikes, upset stomach, there’s something called ‘re-feeding syndrome’.

Everyone fasts different times. OMAD, or one meal a day, is basically fasting for 23 hours and allowing yourself an hour to eat one meal per day and that’s it. Some people, myself included, do rolling fasts. The fasting length is up to you and what your body can handle. I personally do rolling 72’s where I fast for 72 hours (3 days) and then allow myself a specific window to eat and then go right back into another 72 hour fast. Others do more extended fasts (either dry or water only). It’s all up to you and what your body can handle. Also, for the most part, people work up to extended fasts. They don’t usually just jump right in. It’s recommended to start slower, to allow time for your body to adjust. But I’m someone who likes to go all in so I started with rolling 72’s and haven’t looked back. Some like to start with 16:8 or 20:4. Give it a try and see what your body/mind can handle.

Absolutely do not drink your calories. That ends a fast. You’re allowed water, black coffee, basically anything with zero calories/sweetener. I love drinking cold brew or hot coffee on my fasts but it has to be straight black coffee. It helps keep me full and keeps things moving internally as well. ✌️
