New to IF

Current weight 293 lbs. Aiming for 190 lbs. Almost on border line being prediabetic. Eating white rice, fast foods, junk life style and soda. Since a month I’ve started a healthy life style, limiting to 1,700 calories, based on eggs, fibre multigrain bread, salad, chicken, veggies and some fruits. I’m looking to get into Intermittent Fasting since my fasting blood sugar levels are high often. Looking to do 16:8 start my day off with black coffee. My question; how do you consume 1,200-1,700 calories within 8 hour window. Is it ok if sometimes I’m only doing 1,100 calories? P.S I also have NAFLD and that’s another reason to get into this. I’d appreciate any helpful comments. Age 28, 293 lbs, not active lifestyle.

Answer

16:8 is a great place to start. I wouldn’t worry too much about not getting enough calories. If you’re eating 1700 per day and you feel good and you feel like you can continue with that, then just keep at it.

An 8 hour window is a long time. I could eat 1700 in two hours easily. Haha.

You got this. Just pay attention to how you feel… if you do have a day with only 1100 calories, how do you feel trying to fast 16 hours right after that? Adjust as needed.
