Hi! I've started IF yesterday for weight loss and other health benefits, at 18:6 (1p-7p). It was fine.
I ate maybe 1400-1500 cals (I'm 5'3 F, 165 starting weight). I wanted to incorporate keto or low-carb as well (I ate a total of 60g carbs -- I know that isn't ideal for keto, but I cut it drastically from 200-250g), but I am already noticing a difference: bowels are not moving. I have LPR and am on medication that already causes slight constipation, so don't want to aggravate things.
My question is: For those on IF, is it possible to lose weight if I increase my carbs to 100-125g a day? What has worked for you? What foods helped? Does it make fasting harder?
Answer
Carbs are not unhealthy, processed carbs are unhealthy. You can eat home cooked carbs and lose weight. For me i ate rice everyday and still lost weight. Don’t be so hard on yourself. First inculcate a habit of fasting and then try to remove unhealthy foods slowly.

I do 16:8, have lost weight, am easily maintaining a weight I struggled with before, and don’t count calories or macros. I just make sure I have a decent amount of protein at every meal because if I don’t, I get hungry and tired.
