Just starting to try 16/8 IF and have the following questions…
1. If your eating window is almost over and your hungry but know you’ll probably be hungry later, should you eat more since time is almost up?
2. Anyone change their fasting schedule a few times a week? For instance, maybe 12pm-8pm some days and 4pm-12pm on others? Does switching the time of day matter?
3. Anyone else workout late at night? This is my biggest challenge for IF. I workout til about 11:30pm each night. I’m always hungry after a workout (obviously). If I do 12pm-8pm then I would be working out during my fasting period and going to bed hungry and having to wait til noon the next day. Makes me feel like IF won’t work unless I work out earlier in the day. Thoughts?
Answer
- If the food fits in your caloric goals for the day, go ahead and eat. If you’ll go over, then don’t.
- I keep to an 11am to 7pm eating window, when I eat during that time can vary. I personally don’t think switching it up helps, but others swear by it. I don’t know if there are studies done or if it’s all anecdotal.
- If you’re just doing a general strength training routine (and not, say, powerlifting) then as long as you’re getting your protein goals met during the day you should be fine. But track your reps/weights and make sure you’re meeting those goals.
