Not succumb to food

So I have succesfully fasted for 10 days but, on the 11th day I got so bored and just caved in and ate. I felt like time was moving so slowly and distracting myself wasn't enough to keep myself from eating. I wasnt hungry and didnt feel tired or exhausted or any of the warning signs that would suggest to stop. However I have no idea how to keep going without caving in to food

Answer

This is ridiculous . . . you managed to go for 10 entire days, with no food, a feat people thought impossible, but you “caved” on the 11th day? Yeah maybe your body was telling you something!

Get some perspective.

I’m tired of people framing achievements as failures. It sets up the wrong message for new individuals who want to fast.

I’m not sure why you are pushing yourself so hard to fast for such durations, but let me tell you this, if it is for weight, you can lose it even with shorter fasts.

Answer

I know how you feel, when I cave after 3 days (aiming for 5 days for example) I feel bummed out. It’s important to keep perspective of our achievements! Fasting is not easy! Certainly not something everyone would have the discipline to do. There are some great YouTube videos on water fasting and techniques for distraction to get through the slow, difficult times. I find evenings the most difficult personally. Setting up a routine when fasting such as meditation, a bath, some gentle yoga or a movie could help.

Ten days is an amazing achievement! You should be proud!
