People tread very lightly about weight loss conversations with older people (I am now 50) because they don’t want to compliment somebody on their weight loss only to be told that it is a result of a cancer treatment.
That’s a foot in the mouth it’s hard to recover from.
I’ve seen the ‘paper towel effect’ mentioned on this subreddit before. When you take a towel off a roll at the beginning, no one can tell that anything’s been removed. When you get down to the last third of the roll, it becomes more noticeable each time you remove a towel.
I get the most comments from acquaintances I barely know or see. Maybe because they see me less and it’s not a gradual transformation from their perspective.
But I also believe there is a tipping point with your body where suddenly everything comes together and you’re now “carrying” your new weight. I noticed it myself too. For the longest time I couldn’t see a difference even after over 100lbs lost but then suddenly one day I looked at myself in the mirror and was like holy shit dude. Is that the shape of a bone under my skin? 🤣
Did you recently buy new clothes that fit better? I recently caved and bought a pair of jeans that were 4 sizes smaller than what I was wearing. I was being a cheap ass and just cinching them belt further. Once I put them on people started commenting.
Great work by the way.
