OMAD

I want to try eating one meal a day because I’ve been overeating during my window (18:6). I seem to do better when I just don’t eat at all. I usually get a headache around 2 if I don’t eat lunch. Is this something that will go away eventually or is there something I can do to keep from getting headaches? I don’t want to take medication every day.

Answer

You just need to get used to transitioning to the lifestyle and it is still possible to overeat with OMAD. Part of losing weight is learning about self-discipline.

I have been doing OMAD for at least 6 months straight without issues and this is usually what I do:

- Drink at least 1 US gallon of water a day

- Get enough sleep during the night

- High carbs and high protein (because I’m an athlete) diet

Answer

It’s normal to get headaches when you first start fasting, or extending your fasting window. The headaches should go away once you get accustomed to it, as long as you’re getting enough nutrients and enough water. Do you eat a lot of carbs in your meal? Switching to a low carb/high fat diet can help you transition into fasting longer periods of time. Your method is completely up to you though :) Good luck!
