OMAD vs Multiple Meals

I just finished another OMAD day and damn! Food coma! Loving it! And I'm still short off by 40 cals! And bloated! *Started IF on Nov 1. 16:8 protocol a la Jason Fung. Have lost around 5 kg in the same number of weeks. *However I'm working on a deadline and hence have decided to go OMAD. I'm working/ experimenting with Jason Fung's Hypothalamus Insulin model. So no Insulin spiking foods. No whey. The problem is downing 2000 cals in a single meal including P:130 grams, F: at least 160 grams. Some carbs. That too doing it without supplements. I enjoyed it once or twice when I did it previously. Now that it's a plan and have to do it everyday- damn! It's difficult! Today for eg, I broke my rule and had a whey shake to complete my P requirements. RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Go back to 16:8 or some such? 2. Continue with my OMAD. No force-feeding even if that means lower calories. (I'm working towards a body transformation goal and heavily into strength training. Hence don't want to lower P).

Answer

I just opened up my window today from 22:2 to 19:5 because I find it really hard to eat my calories in that window even when I don’t do strict OMAD and eat at the beginning and end of my window (I’m shooting for about 1700 daily and that’s my reduced goal. My current TDEE is about 2300.) I either have to force myself and feel bloated/sleepy, or eat until full and worried that I’m TOO far below calories. For example, yesterday I ended at about 1250 calories, and I was absolutely stuffed. I don’t mind being 100-200 calories below goal, but too much below that and I start to worry.

I was set on going 22:2/OMAD and it’s still part of my long term plan, but I don’t want to become adapted to a low number of calories this early - I have a long way to go and I’ll have fewer places to go when I hit a plateau. I think I’ll keep mixing it up a bit with eating windows so my body doesn’t get too accustomed to anything, though I don’t see myself going lower than 18 hours of fasting. I already skip breakfast as a rule, so waiting until at least lunchtime to eat isn’t an issue.
