Palpitations while fasting

Anyone else get them? Checked in with the doctor, all good. No explanation but they absolutely start to occur while fasting. Any tips or tricks?

Answer

Most palpitations are benign (nothing to worry about, it won’t hurt you).

If they happen again, take note of the rate and if it’s regular or irregular in it’s pattern.

If it’s irregular, that could be a more concerning rhythm called AF. It it continues, go to the hospital or clinic, you’ll need an ECG to confirm.

Stimulants and stress can make it more likely to have palpitations - so take note of what you’ve had/been doing when they occur, write it down and see if there’s any pattern that you can see over time.

I was eating anything, and lots of sugar in my 4 coffees everyday, stopped everything all together, straight to OMAD and after like 3 days started keto

I had those palpitations, SPECIALLY at nighttime when I was close to sleeping time, after some days it stopped (5 days, maybe a week?), I’m now 3 months and a week in.

Answer

ICU nurse here, single palpitations are common and not really concerning. Cough or hold your breath for a second and they’ll usually pass. Sometimes its not a palpitation but silent acid reflux moving about.

Hydrate and you might get your magnesium and potassium levels checked from for Dr. Maybe even take a little Mag before sleep- its awesome.
