poorly planned should i cave

hi im currently 20 hours in to a 36 hour fast. i have been very unhealthy recently with overeating and sugar so i decided to fast to try to get control. i want food so bad. it’s 8pm and i don’t know how i will sleep. i also have no electrolytes or anything. should i just cave? and like get the proper tools and reevaluate. i also did have small amount of oat milk in coffee today as a treat. so i feel fraudulent. i just don’t like plain coffee. im also vegan. also if anyone has vegan electrolyte suggestions in the UK please let me know

Answer

I’m going to be that guy, but you’ve already got the tools needed for a 24 hour fast, and that’s discipline and grit. You’re looking into the future (sleep) for a reason to cave, even though it doesn’t seem like you’ve gone to bed just yet. A 24 hour nap won’t kill you, nor will a night of poor sleep. I’d say keep on trucking, and show yourself it’s possible, a lot of fasting is rooted in willpower.

Answer

I say keep going. You’re more than halfway there. A night of poor sleep won’t kill you, and it sounds like you’re not even in bed yet, so maybe you’ll sleep well. Either way, you can congratulate yourself in the morning. Good luck to you.

Answer

Okay first . Caving doesn’t have to mean having a full course meal. You can eat some small things to fill you up. 200-300 calories will do wonders for you. Just because you eat it doesn’t have to be a huge meal. Have a juice with a snack and relax . On the other hand You could eat two Big Mac 840 calories and still lose weight for the day… don’t stress over it . Just keep at the healthiness

Answer

I think it would be best to just have a good healthy meal (cave) and then get yourself some sleep. Then you can retry after getting the proper tools as this shouldn’t be torture. I hope you feel better and good luck on your journey!

Answer

My first few times trying a full day fast, I had a light snack (think cucumbers, celery, a cheese stick, something like that). My doc said under 300 calories you’ll still get the benefits from fasting. If that helps keep you going, so be it. It’s not like you lose all the benefits from the fasting hours you’ve all put in. Dr fung says this too, I’d recommend his YouTube videos
