Currently on day 20 myself. I started with a few weeks of light eating. Basically just very inconsistent eating, several fasting days, and several OMAD days. Also generally ate less calories in total than I’d typically eat per day.
Then during the fast, I’ve just been taking electrolytes and multivitamins daily. I’ve had pretty much zero issues so far. But it’s honestly just very boring, lol. After the first week, my hunger went away but my energy levels never fully restored, so I’ve been perfectly functional, but extremely lazy this whole month. Honestly, pick a book, game, or show you can spend your free time on. Then also try and find some activities to keep you busy. The boredom will break you otherwise and you’ll resort back to food to entertain yourself.
Longest I’ve gone Is 7 days but are you getting proper electrolytes? You should have 1 to 2 teaspoon of regular salt AND potassium chloride per literof water you drink. If you are feeling tired/weak/headaches increase the salts or drink more saltwater. Lemon juice can be used to boost the flavor and does NOT break ketosis.
I’ve done a 30 day fast. I decided two weeks before that I would go an entire calendar month without eating. I didn’t do anything specific to prepare, other than tell myself it is going to be a long time before I eat again after the start of the month in question, and watch a lot of youtube videos of people who had done / were doing lengthy fasts.
While I think that mental preparation was helpful, I also really think it is much more important to plan to put yourself in a good position when you break the fast. I specifically supplemented the following to ensure breaking the fast was smooth:-
Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Thiamine, Phosphorous.
I also tracked my blood glucose, ketones, blood pressure and resting heart rate every day during the fast.
I broke my fast with people who knew I hadn’t eaten for 32 days so that if there were any complications they could get me to hospital. Breaking the fast proved to be uneventful.
