Hi all, I've got a question about how to break and fast.
I've been intermittent fasting (16:8) for almost a month now. I feel great and am seeing results.
In terms of breaking my fast, I tend to have something small at 12pm, usually one of the following:
Tin of tuna or sardines (in brine or water),
Or A vegan protein shake (trying to reduce dairy intake),
Or Some chicken, eggs or turkey (small amount)
Then I tend to wait anywhere between 30 mins to 1.5Hr to eat a proper meal.
- So my question is, does this seem like a good approach? Is waiting an hour going to benefit rather than just jumping in to a meal after breaking my fast? Any advice on this would be helpful ☺️
Thank you!
Answer
If this is working well for you no reason to change it. For most folks after a couple weeks getting used to it, breaking the fast becomes less of a concern on 16 hour fasts. Though I still actively avoid breaking a fast with too much sugar for how much it drives up my hunger the rest of the day.
