Has anyone tried intermittent fasting based on random chance? I was thinking today about setting up a system where each morning I do a random test to see if I should eat that day.
My thought was I could adjust the probability on a yes/no to eating based on a goal I set. If my goal was eating roughly every other day, I'd just do a 50/50 chance. I could then tweak the chance up or down based on what I was comfortable with and wanted to do for a period of time. Maybe monthly.
It seemed to me this would have the effect of simulating a hunter/gatherer situation where I might not know if I would find food on a certain day.
It just seemed like it might make the process more fun and interesting, and I would always have the next day to look forward to as a new chance to eat. Also if I found myself in situations where I felt I needed to eat (like social situations with family, friends, or work), I could simply do so and adjust accordingly. Roll for the day and if it's a yes then no problem. If it's a no then maybe skip my next yes for instance.
Answer
I do this. I try not to have too many/any days in a row where I’m eating 3 meals as this stretches out the stomach and increases difficulty when trying to fast the following day(s).
Good luck with it.
