Reduced appetite?

I’ve noticed my appetite has decreased since beginning IF and wondering if this is normal? My fiancé and I like to go for breakfast on Saturday mornings and I’ve noticed I cannot finish my usual plate that up until starting IF, had no trouble finishing. I also frequently make overnight oats during the week with protein powder, almond milk, chia seeds, etc and always use the same container that fits my portion perfectly that I’ve used for years. Now I can’t even finish the whole portion, even after breaking a 16H fast!

Answer

Yes, definitely even though it’s only been a few months for me. I think it’s more than my stomach shrinking although that’s probably part of it. I’ve been trying to concentrate on eating very high quality foods and maybe before I wasn’t properly satiated? Since I’m eating fewer meals I can spend more time preparing them and when I feel reluctant to pay for fresh fruits and veg in the winter I think about the cost of the meds that I’m hopefully avoiding. I’ve been doing 16-8 mainly for metabolic reasons although I did drop 7% of my body weight as well. I’ve been thinking of opening up my eating window so I don’t lose too much weight but honestly I don’t get that hungry outside of the 16 hours

Edit: I meant inside of the 16 fasting hours not outside lol

Answer

My appetite is much lower then before I started. I think a big part of it is the food I’m eating as well. Way less crappy carbs and sugar that effed with my blood sugar. It’s definitely a combo of being on a schedule plus eating better for me.

I have the same experience. Full a lot faster than before I started if. I think it’s incredible how small amount of food we actually need. The oversized meals , sodas and plates really has screwed us up. It’s bad habits that’s my worst enemy. I eat although I’m full because I’m used to it. I try eating fruit if the urges get to strong.
