Left foot, then right foot. But rapidly.
I started running about two years ago now. Just jogging, logging miles. Always fasted, always close to the end of the fasting period, in the morning.
In my opinion, it doesn’t burn fat like weight training does, but it’s a way more zen activity. You just tuck in and go.
I run with a dog, on a trail. I listen to podcasts not music and I let my Fitbit give me a status report every .5 kilometers. Constant encouragement, basically.
Nothing sloshes around in you and you don’t have a whole bunch of food in you. There are no encumberances. Except your cardio endurance. And you can work on that easily by running.
I used to walk/run a mile after time on an elliptical, then I realized I could only really get my heart rate up high while running, so running it was.
I always drive somewhere, run away from my car and run back, on a trail. So I can see other active people and not people in cars.
It’s not fun, like fun, but it will clear your head. And it’s a great time expender. This summer I’m trying to run 25 kilometers a week. It’s going OK. Some weeks that’s 5 runs and some weeks that’s 4. I even ran in a race, and didn’t finish anywhere near last.
I like it. It’s not the best fat burner, but you just tie your shoes and go.
>Does running while fasting enhance the fat burn and calorie burn effects?
Yes, we’re burning more fat, but not in the way we think about it. That’s a snapshot moment of what our primary fuel sources was. Our body is using largely the same amount of energy if we workout fasted or fed. And it’s that overall energy balance over days and weeks that determines if we’re net gaining or losing fat.
So just workout when it feels best for you and fits your schedule.
