I am trying to understand the mechanics of autophagy better and I am having trouble finding specific information about what happens in the body after a fasted state is interrupted briefly.
So let's say a person starts fasting for 3 days ok, they're measuring ketones and have low blood sugar, they're probably in autophagy.
Let's say on day 4 they decide to eat something and then fast again after that.
Scenario A:
2tbs of cream in their coffee and some sucralose-based sweetener.
Scenario B:
500 calories of lean protein.
Scenario C:
1600 calories of keto friendly foods, like some chicken with cheese and buttered broccoli, hard boiled egg, bacon, a salad with vinaigrette.
How long, specifically, until they are back in autophagy phase for each scenario?
Answer
Pretty sure autophagy is due to lack of anabolic process. So you want to avoid an insulin response which can be triggered by protein or sugar(or even sweet tasting things like sucralose). If you can guarantee no insulin response then I would assume whatever has the least amount of calories would be the quickest route back to ramped up autophagy.
