Should you fast daily ?

There are many ways in which to intermittent fast. Some forms are designed for daily practice, while others are not. By becoming familiar with the different forms of intermittent fasting, and the benefits you might experience from fasting daily according to certain guidelines, you can reap optimal effects from your intermittent fasting practice. While traditional wisdom once warned to never skip meals and labeled breakfast as the “most important meal of the day,” recent studies have challenged this belief. Skipping meals can boost your metabolism, not slow it down. Skipping breakfast seems to be as beneficial as skipping dinner, so pick the option you prefer. Answer

I fast daily for at least 20 hours, I take breaks when I go on vacation. Typically 1x every 4 to 6 months. While I understand for many metabolism doesn’t slow, mine absolutely does slow. A lot. Taking green tea extract (1000mg) for the caffeine does seem to correct this for me.

OMAD is typically what I end up with but sometimes I end up with up to a 4 hour window. I’ve read over and over that the most important meal of the day is the one you eat and I make the nutrition in my meal count by eating a rainbow of colorful fruits and veggies with either plant of animal proteins and fats. I avoid simple carbs with few exceptions. I eat lots of leafy green foods and micro greens and drink some Kombucha almost daily. The foods I eat are full of flavor and I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.

Eating this way is enabling me to steadily lose 15 years of bad habit weight gain and learn to love myself again. It’s easy for me and I am eating healthier than I ever have before. I get that it’s not for everyone but it’s sure as hell going to remain my lifestyle from now on. Also the money I save by no longer over eating allows me to buy better foods.
