Sometimes you have to ignore the scale and keep at it!

I've been weighing myself nearly daily since I started fasting nearly 3 months ago and I was happy to see that (ignoring slight daily fluctuations) the numbers were mostly trending downwards for the last three months. For the last week and half I weighed the exact same to the .1/.2 pounds every day and was feeling discouraged because I'd actually been eating better and exercising more so expected an even steeper weight loss! Got my period and now two days later I'm below that number finally and trending downwards again!! KEEP AT IT and DON'T BE DISCOURAGED!! Remember our bodies do weird things (even more so than men's) and it could literally be any tiny thing messing with the scales.

Answer

Absolutely! I’ve been tracking my weight on a weekly basis for months and I can confirm that temporary weight loss plateaus could just actually be due to your normal menstrual cycle! It doesn’t always happen at the same time in my cycle every month, but I tend to stall for a week or two then suddenly drop 2-4 lbs in one week. Looking at how much I’ve lost monthly rather than by week is so much of a more positive and encouraging view for me.

Answer

Don’t weigh yourself daily. I really really do not recommend.

I like to weigh myself once or twice a month , and not during PMS or my period. It’s just not worth it and the information isn’t helpful during that time.

I wait til my period is over. And two or so days later, if I feel like it, I’ll weigh myself first thing in the morning.

It also helps if you didn’t have a big meal or alcohol recently. Both can cause bloat.
