Breakfast being the most important meal of the day is a pile of dung and you should feel free to skip it any time you want.
At a nitpicky term level “breakfast” is just what we named the meal we eat in the morning once we’ve woken up, and has specific types of food often associated with it. It’s also the mashing up of “break fast” where you break the fasting you did simply by going to bed for however long.
Now, if you skip breakfast the meal, and break your fast at what we associate with lunch, lunch broke your fast.
Intermittent fasting is simply a prolonged window of time where you don’t consume calories, and many people include their sleep schedule with that window.
Who said breakfast is bad for you? Unless you’re talking the 70/80’s where they said sugar cereal was part of a nutritious breakfast. I haven’t heard that in a long time. It’s definitely not bad to miss breakfast. Lots to read in here if you want to give it a whirl. 👍
Science has not yet even come close to figuring out all of the mysteries of how the human body metabolizes food. It’s ever changing. What we think we know now won’t be the same in 10 years. (That includes theories about IF.)
Studies are being done all the time. They are never conclusive, and they almost always support correlations rather than causations.
Also, not all studies are created equal, but the media reports on them as if they are. A lot of studies are funded by corporations who have an agenda. (Breakfast cereal manufacturers have conducted studies which concluded, not surprisingly, that you should always eat breakfast.) And then health magazines fill their pages with a lot of baseless advice, like that you need to rev up your metabolism in the morning with food.
Yeah, disregard all of that. (I know it’s tough!) There is no actual evidence that it is beneficial to eat breakfast or eat breakfast at any particular time.
Well, if you just skip breakfast, you can keep eating for the rest of the awake time. With intermittent fasting you set up a window of time in any part of your day, and don’t eat outside of that time frame. For example, amy of these would work: 6am to 4pm or 12pm to 6pm or 2pm to 10pm. You choose it and you stick with it
