28yo female SW 172.6 CW 170.6 Any tips on how to not lose your mind doing this? I’m 19 hours in and the hunger pangs are reallll. Also, is there anyone around my weight who could give me an idea of how much you lost per day? The scale definitely gives me momentum!
Hey guys! Thought I’d update after starting my second attempt. :) I’m currently on day two (36 hrs in)
SW 170.6
DAY 2 : CW 168!!
I decided to incorporate caffeine free herbal teas and carbonated waters to give me a bit of variety and that definitely helped a lot! Hoping to fast for 4 days total. My plan is to break my fast with fresh pressed juice on the first day and then ease into solid food on day two following the OMAD protocol.
DAY 3: CW 165.6
Yesterday I was really drained and had serious issues sleeping. Today I woke up feeling completely normal and energized. Last night I drank 40cal worth of broth to get some sodium and that definitely helped with the cramping. My energy has been really good and hunger hasn’t been unbearable. I was even able to sit next to colleagues while they ate their lunch! Planning on having another serving of broth this evening and take it easy.
DAY 4: CW 163.7
Woke up this morning feeling a little achy but having good energy. Considering pushing my fast another 12-24 hours past the 96hr mark depending on how I feel!
DAY 5: CW 160.5
I’m 108 hours in and down 10.1 pounds! I’m still not hungry but am starting to get dry mouth consistently. I think I need to drink more water? Regardless, my energy has been really great. Yesterday I walked a total of 8 miles including my walk to work (I live in NYC) and felt completely fine. Considering breaking my fast at noon today to jump right into a 16-8 IF eating window.
Answer
I’m similar to you, 26yo, SW 181lbs, CW 166lbs and have been doing 16/8 and did my fast 24hr fast the other day. I’m not an expert at all (and others please do correct me) but from reading around I read you can expect to lose 1/2lb of real weight per 24hr fast. I undertook my first fast because my weight hadn’t moved for 3 days despite a calorie deficit, and I lost about 2lbs on the scale. It made me feel very good to see the figures but I don’t believe it was all weight. Mind you, it has motivated me to keep going and do more fasts!
Answer
Practice make perfect, the more you try to fast the longer and longer you get to be without eating. The thing is that you start to know and comprehend the fisiological changes that your body experience while fasting, and you get use to them, the first fast is the worst, and actually if you don’t get to have a long fast don’t beat yourself up and try again later, it is all about practice and your body getting used to it. And the other redditor is correct, after day 2 or 3 hunger disappear, that is a real thing.
