Last year I was about 10lbs from my goal weight before gaining 15lbs due to stress/stress eating. Just as I was getting back on track I found out I was pregnant.
The whole first trimester I had to eat every 2-3 hours or I'd feel sick. Luckily at that time all I wanted was fruit/veggies with some protein. Had a massive aversion to chicken so it was all fish and red meat.
Second trimester appetite went to manageable 3 meals a day plus one snack. Unfortunately my body doesn't do well eating like this even when it was 96% healthy foods.
I gained 46lbs over pregnancy. Weighed in at 227bs the day before Gizmo was born. Immediately went down to 217 from giving birth and have been stuck at 208 for over a month now.
Am now 2.5 months post partum. My partner says not to worry about the weight and just focus on making sure I'm healthy and producing enough breast milk. Gizmo is combo fed so thinking 16/8 should be okay with moderate carbs (oatmeal every morning gets real old but it helps).
I know the studies suggest it's not wise but those studies were small scale and looked at Ramadan. I'm not doing sun up to sun down with no food or drink. Water is absolutely necessary for production.
Anyone successfully breast/chest fed while fasting? Did your supply decrease?
Answer
You’re probably ok to do IF, the biggie is gonna be getting enough calories for your milk supply. There are specific breastfeeding TDEE calculators that adjust for that, so I’d start there
Congrats on the baby!
