starting tomorrow

Hello! So after a long time of considering fasting to be unhealthy (mentally and physically) I've actually decided to give it a try. Researching it in relation to culture and religion led me to hearing more about the health benefits. I am thinking to start with 16:8 as this seems the most standard, fasting period from evening meal to the following day around lunch time. Would this be a good place to start? Any recommendations into doing this with exercise, tips to get thru difficult periods, drinks etc? It will be my first time ever to try to fast. I can't deny that weight loss is a large part of the reason I want to do this but also to improve my health, discipline, and hopefully improve the choices I'm making at meal times. I am 30 and feel that I am finding consistency and health choices more difficult and I need a new strategy!

My 2 cents

Don’t look at the scale for several weeks. When I started, it took two months before I noticed a change in the scales itself. I first noticed changes in how my clothes fit and how I was feeling.

I never use an app either. Never found them to be much use. I just don’t eat within my fasting time… that’s it.

Don’t make it more complicated than it is. Fasting is pretty simple. It will be a rollercoaster LOL. Just stick with it.

I have found black coffee and sparkling water really help me get through my mornings. Coffee for breakfast and a mid morning sparkling water. Make sure to get the ones with no calories tho! Keep a nice balance of protein, carbs, and healthy fats. I do track my food so I can make sure I’m balancing my carbs properly. Too few and I was feeling hungry, too many and I wouldn’t lose weight. I actually do 400 calories for lunch and 400 for dinner with a 200 calorie snack in between. I didn’t notice much the first week, so be patient and stick with it! Good luck!
