Support/Help needed

Hey everybody. I promise I’m not an attention whore and I’ve never done this before. I need some support from y’all though. I’ve been trying to do the snake diet for months now and can never get through the first day. I gained 77 pounds during COVID. In 2018 I had weight loss surgery and lost 140 pounds. I’ve now gained back more than half of that weight lost. Long story short, covid depressed the hell out of me and so i ate for joy. I now have something to look forward to and I need to lose a ton of weight before it begins. All I’m asking for is some support and a safe place I can come to when I feel like I can’t continue. I don’t have a healthy weight support system at home. I tried to snake again today but I ended up eating and that’s what drove me to make this post. I’m gonna start again tomorrow. If y’all have any tips, I’m all ears. Regarding my unhealthy relationship with food, I am currently in therapy as of yesterday. SW 315 pounds 5’7

Answer

Stop using food as something to look forward to. Eating boring foods so you’re not excited by the idea of eating anymore. Don’t bring snacks or any easily made foods if you can. Distract distract distract. When ur not working, get a hobby. Something to keep ur mind occupied not just watching Netflix (if you do that) I know a lot of people like to have different kinds of food and make healthy alternatives but I honestly don’t think that works. It’s better to be bored w ur food and to see it as fuel so you’re over eating and making it ur happiness. Weigh yourself everyday, it keeps you accountable and motivated. If maybe obsessive to some but I find the only way to loose weight is to be bit obsessive when ur too laid back it doesn’t work. Additionally I would give yourself a month to see how well u did If u find that it’s not working for you resort to calorie counting and walking.

I had to take a different mindset. Before it was “I can’t have this, I can’t have that, I can’t eat tomorrow”. It was always a feeling of deprivation. I changed the way I think about it to “my body WANTS to burn this stored energy, so i’m going to ALLOW it to”. I’m LETTING my body do what it needs to do. I’m getting out of it’s way.

So what I’m seeing is that you always give into cravings you can’t finish a 24hr fast. You have to break your relationship with food, and you can do that with a potato reset.

Made popular by Ray Cronise, Penn Jillette and Kevin Smith. For two weeks you eat nothing but potatoes. Any type of potato, as much as you want. With the caveat you can’t have it with salt, oil, sauce or butter. Not only is the potato incredibly satiating but without additives you’ll get sick of them you end up fasting.

You’ll lose weight and your relationship with food will change. You can then go into a fasting lifestyle and adopt a proper diet. Note, the two weeks will be hell. Try it, you are desperate with nothing to lose!

For hobbies to distract, try something with your hands. I like crochet and guitar but anything that keeps my hands busy means I’m not eating. A wonderful side product is creating beautiful things🧡good luck!
