I recently went through a frustrating, month long plateau. The scale didn’t change. I was looking leaner but my measurements were all close to the same (close enough I wasn’t certain the difference wasn’t how tight I pulled the tape). I kept at it. I used a 48 hour fast and instantly dropped 3 pounds and another 6 in the next few eating days!
Right afterwards I heard that there was a study on plateaus and weight loss frequently starts by burning up the intramuscular fat, and when there’s a plateau what they found with scans is that the body is moving fat from visceral fat cells out to the muscles again. The muscles are visibly slightly bigger. The fleshy parts slightly shrink. And then after the process is over there’s a whoosh effect when you drop pounds too, and then it starts over. Now I never googled to look up the study or see if it was large or simply a case report. But it definitely described what happened to me. Keep at it, and if you get too frustrated lengthen your fast a bit to break your plateau.
