Taking a break

I have lost 12 kgs (26 lbs) so far since September 2022 & I'm now in overweight category vs. obese before. (Current BMI is 27.5). Did IF on/off along with CICO. And regular walking & jogging. However, I feel burnt out lately from trying to improve more on things. Currently, I can exercise regularly, do IF & consume under TDEE everyday & I'll likely continue to do so. I feel burnt out from trying to get into lifting, completely eliminating added sugar (I consume 80% less than before these days) & from further trying to improve nutrition. I think I'm going to just maintain the status quo for a few months. And relax basically. The doctor had told me to lose 10 kgs for health reasons & I've done that. Will be back in a few months for next wave of improvements. Cheers 🍻

Answer

I am pretty sure it is the OTHER things that have you feeling burned out, because for me, IF it self leads to more energy. Not less.

I would basically much rather take break from CICO and exercise if I were you, than take break from IF. YDY, but break from IF sounds like recipe for weight gain.

I know for me personally I tend to jump head on into new diets and make a ton of changes because I’m enthusiastic to lose weight and feel good. If a diet is good, super strict is better, if starting to exercise is good, more is better! But so many changes at once can and always does (for me) lead to burn out that eventually leads to giving up. If you’re feeling that way, I think you’re right to back off a little and focus on just maintaining for a bit. The way you eat/exercise has to be sustainable for you long term to actually be a healthy lifestyle instead of a diet. I feel like that’s a super hard lesson for everyone to learn, so kudos to you for recognizing the signs and taking action before that point. I hope I keep this in mind when I get to that point too, easier said then done!
