I’m a teacher. I was worried about the lack of energy too but was surprised how it was no big deal. The first month is hard, no doubt. I suggest starting 18/6 and do lunch and dinner. Now that I’m 3 months in, I have so much more energy during the day to than I’ve ever had teaching. It’s usually the best on the days I wait to do OMAD a 22/24 schedule. The first month you’re teaching your body to become fat adapted, after that it becomes second nature. Find the book Fast.Feast.Repeat. It is written by a retired teacher and researcher.
The first few weeks may be challenging, because the body is still adapting to fat-burning mode. But it soon becomes so much easier. Please believe this.
In the beginning, your body is used to having a near-endless supply of glucose from food. Once you become fat-adapted (when you’ve lowered circulating insulin levels, emptied your glycogen stores, and begun easily using fat stores for your energy), you will be able to power through virtually effortlessly.
In the beginning, if you feel some hunger, trust that the body is adapting, and that it gets so, so much easier very soon. Besides, it’s just a bit of hunger. It’s temporary, and it won’t kill you. You’re stronger than some hunger.
Soon you’ll wonder why you worried at all.
Yes, I’ve found that it is easy to teach till 11-11:30 before eating, despite it being a high energy job. Because I’m not a morning person. I also like that there is no time commitment needed for preparing and eating breakfast. I have coffee at home while getting ready. Big water with electrolytes at school. (and another coffee made there if I really want. ) I eat at 11 or 11:30 or 12:00. Maybe snack at 3:00 while working in my classroom. Dinner by 7:00. So 11:7 is 16:8. Feels good!
I’m a teacher - I get up at 420, go to the gym, go to work, come home and break my fast around 5. Last bite around 7, rinse and repeat. Your body has the energy, you just have to tap into it. You’ve got this!
I teach. I have breakfast around 10:30 (my prep) and a light lunch about an hour and a half later. Delaying breakfast is very convenient because before I would have to eat at 6:30 and go a full six hours before eating again, which was miserable after my metabolism had already started for the day. I don’t like snacking around students because they can’t have snacks either. If I didn’t have a break in the morning, I would just skip breakfast completely, but as a vegetarian I like to load up on protein early in the day. I can adjust easily though now I’m used to a 15ish hour fast.
I have been doing OMAD teaching. I drink black coffee and water all day. Get home and immediately make dinner. I eat around 4:30/5. Busy days make it easier and being a teacher there are always busy days. The hardest is if there is food in the lounge for whatever reason and I just stay away, and use a different bathroom. I found eating lunch as my first meal made me tired, so I just extended until dinner. Plus, I feel like I’m laser focused and on top of my game.
I’m a teacher. I eat lunch about 12. Anytime I got hungry prior I drank water and after a few days my body got use to it. I’ve been doing 16-17 hr fasts so far.
I also save any free foods offered up for later. Like free donuts or whatever someone brings in. I’m still going to enjoy eating but just in better portions.
