I know People recommend a ton of different fasting lengths and I’ve done everything from 16:8 to multiple day fasts in the past (however I failed every fasting and keto diet in the past as I always fall off the wagon and binge). Today I seemed to have found a schedule that I may be able to apply long term, I fasted for 16 hours and then drank a coffee (about 150 cal) which obviously broke my fast but it allowed me to push my meal back 4 extra hours. The coffee had 8grams of carbs and the calories came from cream/flavoring. It really suppressed my appetite and allowed for me to only consume about 800 cal for the day total. Is it worth having a coffee with cream/stevia and breaking a fast early if it allows me to push my main meal back further? Is it better to spike my insulin twice a day and consume less compared to ounce a day and consume more calories? Black coffee never seemed to have the same appetite blunting effects for me as coffee with heavy cream. By the way the meal I ate was keto (salad).
Answer
It’s worthy if it’s the thing that allows you to be consistent. 16:8 is still IF.
But please be careful, 800 calories per day is too low, whatever your height. Take care, and try to figure out your tdee : tdee calculator
