This is discouraging.

Female 5'8 190 lbs. I've been stuck at 190 for 3 days (at the start of my fast). These past 2 weeks I've lost 14 lbs just by doing a VLCD, low carb. I've been watching a lot of Cole's videos and feel like his method is truly the fastest way to lose weight. Still feel good at 72 hours so I think I'll try 96 and go from there. I'm frustrated because I can't get out of the 190s. I've gone to the gym everyday and walk on the incline treadmill for 45-60 minutes. The first 2 days of my fast I only drank water. Today I started the snake juice packet because I felt like I needed the electrolytes. It definitely helped. I am just so lost and confused. How and why am I stuck? Trying to trust Cole and carry on, maybe stop weighing myself everyday. I just find weighing myself everyday helped with my motivation if I saw the number go down. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Answer

1.Take a break from the gym for your next rolling set of fasts and take naps. I woke up from naps losing half a pound and sometimes 1 pound. Night time sleep I lose 2 lbs at times. Workout on refeed days only. Getting rest is more important for me on a fast than working out. If I workout 2x a week during snake diet, I lose more weight than if I workout 3 or 4x a week. Than may be the issue for you as well, just a guess.

  1. Sleep no later than 10pm. This made a huge difference for me. I lose 2lbs like clockwork when I sleep at 10pm.

You should be drinking electrolytes everyday. You also need to switch up your routine. Sometimes you fast a little longer and sometimes you fast a little shorter. It keeps your body guessing and allows you to let go of more stored fat. Your body is a fat storing machine and it will hang on to the fat at all costs. Sometimes you have to trick the body in order to make it let go of the fat. One day you eat a little more calories and the next day you eat less. Just like training a muscle. One week you do bench presses for your chest and the next week you do push-ups. That change allows muscle growth. Very similar concept. You’ll be just fine. 👊🐍

It just kinda happens that way sometimes. Somedays you fast and do a pound, 1.5, even 2 pounds per day, somedays you don’t budge the scale. Over the long term you will budge the scale.

Entirely non-scientific answer: You already lost 14 pounds, now you’re scraping the metabolic barrel for more “easy” weight to lose. When you’ve stabilized here, you will begin to move lower as you fast more.

Fasting works great and quick, but it’s still a game of weeks and months.

I was stuck for weeks at one point. I re-fed two days back to back at around 1,000 calories MORE than usual. I did that with the intent of fasting until I could drop 3lbs. It took only 80H after my huge refeed to lose 5lbs in total (the night before I was still over goal). My suggestion is to take a couple days rest to reset - your body wants this to be the next set point. Feast again to tell your body you’ve got it… and it loses again quickly. I’ve gone a little further from snake juice and now use akimbo fasting fuel. It has a few extra ingredients that I love. Berberine is a major one. Also - it’s much easier to take a few tablets of salt than to drink a bunch of weird tasting water. Keep up with the water but the tabs are great.

I’ve been watching some YouTube videos by “A Healthy Alternative,” and he calls this time “shrink week.”

Meaning that while you may not see any movement on the scale, focus on how your clothes are fitting or how your body feels tighter. This is ideal, because this is your SKIN shrinking!

Better yet: keep track of measurements as much as you do the number on the scale.

Keep the faith, and keep doing the work! Where there is effort, there is change.
