Trouble with calories HEEELPPP

I’ve been going LCHF and that has been making things really difficult for me to hit my calorie target. I’m F 5’4 59kg and doing LCHF and IF keeps me really full. But sometimes I seem to only be able to eat 1000-1200 calories. If I force myself to stuff enough things in I can reach 1600-1700. I keep seeing posts about starvation mode and messing up the metabolic system and thats a bit worrying. I could really use some help and advices here. If my calorie intake hasnt reached it’s limit should I just break my fast even if i’m full?

Answer

I’m 5’4” and around 50kgs. I battled to get decent calories on OMAD. I was coming in at around 900 when I aim for 1600. Now I’m around 1300 and I realized the other 300 was junky snacks. I’m vegan and mostly whole food so it’s difficult to hit calories goals because you have to eat so much. I throw in extra stuff like hemp hearts, chia seeds etc. it gives a boost without having to add a bunch of oil, which is my goto when I need to bulk up a meal. Some days I add a protein shake. I walk 5-7 miles a day, have started working out again and I feel full and satisfied. Every day. I realized that I ate a lot of empty calories before and I feel like I have more energy even though I’m eating fewer calories.

For me I had to play around with my meals to bulk them up in a way that I enjoyed. It takes some time to get into the swing of a new diet. Go by how you feel. It’s also different for those of us on the smaller side. There’s a Petite Fitness sun that has a ton of info. Starvation mode is very misunderstood. Do some digging and try to stay a way from the HAES hysteria around “diets”. Pretty much every fasting podcast I’ve listened to or article I’ve read has addressed this.
