Vent Post - Outside Opinions on OMAD

Aight so I've been doing dirty OMAD (One meal, but I put Silk creamer and Stevia in my coffee... which I have about 3 cups of a day) and just feeling *good* y'know? First couple days are a little rough but by the 3rd day in a row I don't even feel hunger anymore. A couple of my friends fast, but I brought it up with one who doesn't the other day and was kinda surprised at his reaction. He said "well that sounds fuckin dumb" and rolled his eyes at the rest of the conversation. I just don't get it, why do people get so defensive at the idea of fasting? It's not like I was giving him advice, or even implying he should fast, just that it has been working for me. Side note: anyone else feel like garbage when *not* following your fast? Like physically, if I'm doing OMAD I feel great all day before and after the meal, but if I end up eating lunch or breakfast one day I will have an upset stomach the rest of the day. This normal? Also feel way lazier if I'm not fasting.

Answer

People are so mean about fasting - they take it personally for some reason. As if my abstaining from food will force everyone to starve or something. It’s crazy. And it’s why our country (USA) is fat-as-funk. We are so unhealthy.

You pointed out to an egotistical man that he didn’t know everything? And you expected to be treated like a decent human who shared potentially, helpful information? Brush it off. You tried.

Yes, I feel much better when I don’t overeat.

Answer

People get defensive about any type of a way of eating. It doesn’t matter if it’s the kind of foods you eat or how you eat them. They’re very attached to the idea that what works for them (and what they’re used to) must be the only right way of doing food. This is why I don’t discuss my diet or eating habits with people unless I’m directly asked or there’s a medical necessity.
