Wanting to fast but medicine required

How do you guys deal when you have to take medicine 4 times a day with food? I can’t fast and it might be another month before I am off the tablets. It’s frustrating because I find it harder to eat right throughout the day without fasting. Any tips?

Answer

Tip 1: take your medicine as directed. If you have questions, talk to your doc about your options.

Tip 2: There are no other tips.

If IF is too hard with your medical needs, consider CICO. IF is just an extension of CICO anyway.

Answer

Depends on the medication. Some are better absorbed with lipids/fats. For those I usually have a spoon or 2 of high fat yoghurt, or half a teaspoon of peanut butter with it. I’ve heard of people just swallowing a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil. It’s such a small amount it doesn’t really affect your fast.

But if it requires eating for other reasons, I don’t think there’s much you can do. Medical health comes before fasting. Maybe if you are in your “fasting” window, just try to limit it to something really small, and maybe as keto as possible? Try not to spike your blood sugar too much.

I’m in a similar boat. I’m trying to fast. But I take bioidentical progesterone and it’s better absorbed with fat. I don’t really understand why exactly. The progesterone naturally helps with my anxiety. So I take it as needed and sometimes it’s happens during my fast. I do 16:8, low carb, and 1400 calories a day, it’s been 2 weeks. I make sure to save at least 40 calories every day for a little bite of cheese if I end up needing it. I’m sure this is slowing down my weight loss, but I want it to be a lifestyle. So I don’t end up putting the weight back on.

Answer

Maybe do a Keto diet in the meantime… If you are wanting to fast in order to lose weight… Keto is nice because you don’t crave food after about a week. I do keto and intermittent fasting… Once the meds are done you can simply start your fasting.
