Following this.
I fasted several times for between two and ten days during the second part of last term (while in Ph.D. coursework and teaching). I was very low-energy, sleepy, and unfocused. But I was also cripplingly depressed. So it’s difficult to sort out what was a result of the fast and what was a result of the depression.
I’m curious to see if anyone has kept up multiple-day fasting protocols during doctoral study and not tanked their productivity.
Dentist here. I did fasts while in dental school and have continued now that I’m out and working. The first couple of days can make you a little low energy, especially after eating crap and going cold turkey into a fast, but after that initial day or so I’ve felt great from then on. But fasts never have hindered work on patients or studies for me.
Current computer science undergraduate. I did 6 days last semester and would get physically fatigued easier sometimes but otherwise no ill effects. The hardest part for me is I’m used to snacking when I do school work, but that’s just because I created an unhealthy routine.
