Weekdays vs weekends

During the week when I'm working it's relatively easy for me to keep my food window to late afternoon after work, but weekends are a lot harder due to being at home. On Sunday I had a craving for morning toast which I gave in to, then I had an early lunch, thinking 'okay I'll just start an earlier fast after lunch'. But then I ended up eating dinner as well. So I just let it go, but does anyone else struggle with this on the weekends or when not at work, or have tips for avoiding this situation?

Answer

I don´t fast on weekends. I just enjoy being home with my husband, we make pancakes in the morning, we snack still late… I just fast during the week, and I have lost 0.5 kg a week. Constantly changing your fasting windows and routines, helps your body loose more weight, because that way it won´t get used to your eating behaviors.

However, if you really would like to fast on weekends, I suggest finding some activities to do. Get out of the house, distract yourself with some chores.. You can also try to fast but with a bigger eating window than normal… For example if you enjoy family meals, you can chooseto have a late breakfast and early dinner. That way, you won´t miss out on anything :D

Hope that helps.

The weekends are certainly tough for multiple reason: social obligations, circumstances, environment, etc. It sort of comes down to what your goals are and how fast you want to achieve them.

Personally, my approach for the weekends is to not worry as much about my timing, though I’ll stick to it if I can. But I will still adhere to how I eat even on my fast with the number of meals and the amount of snacking. This has been sort of the best compromise for myself to keep the weight loss going but still be flexible on the weekends.

Weekends are definitely a time when it can become easier to think about food outside your window. I usually relax my weekday 18:6 down to a 16:8 on the weekends. Another thing that works for me is to plan out my weekend mornings so they’re so jam-packed with errands/to-dos/hobbies that I don’t think about food. At work im too busy to think about food, so I try to recognize that hack and apply it in my non-work time too. Good luck friend!
