I’m on hour 60 of a 72h water-based fast and I may go 84-96 because I’m feeling so great. I’m trying fasting for lots of reasons, this extra weight (~80lbs) is evidence of unhealthy choices affecting mental wellness, productivity and liver health.

When I break I’ll do one day of OMAD, then fat fasting for 2 days, and then another 2 days of water only - 3/4 water, 1/4 ACV and salt water. I want go longer but don’t want to fail on the first attempt.

Currently I allow herbal teas, matcha (cold in water), broth periodically and the odd swig of kombucha or pickle brine. I infuse water w/ tarragon, coriander, ginger, citrus; whatever’s around. I get some flack for this, but do I use stevia - either from the garden or Truvia by the half pinch - when bored. Dr. Berg tentatively says it has negligible effects on insulin and likely won’t knock you out of ketosis. But next week I’m stepping it up to water and something LIKE “snake juice”.

New to fasting - done a couple 16:8s but nothing serious. This week I’m planning three 18 hours and one 24 hour. My main concern is fasting around my lifting workouts - I’m a big fan of taking pre-workout and collagen before and having a protein smoothie after as I’m trying to build strength. I’ve never skipped dinner before but giving it a go this week. Excited to see how I feel!

I am starting my fast tonight. I have done a couple of 48 hour fasts and one 72. I really want to see if I can go a little longer (10 days is my goal). I’ve been watching the snake juice videos and ordered all of the ingredients for snake juice today. Hopefully everything will arrive by Tuesday so I can start drinking that soon.My reasons for doing this fast are to feel better, lose weight (33F 5’4” CW220lbs GW120lbs), clear my skin, give my organs time to rest and repair, balance my gut, and hormones. I also want to reset my appetite and hopefully repair my relationship/dependence on food.

Last night I started my first 5 day fast “snake juice” only.

I have done lots of 24s and 48s as well as one 72. I have never done it with “snake juice” and never for 5 days. I have already weaned myself from caffeine/ coffee addiction and have been eating low sugar lately, so I don’t think I will crash as hard as my 72 that was supposed to be a 106hr.

I am doing it for all the reasons:

-spiritual

-appetite reset

-cellular autophagy

-weight loss

-save money
