I am approaching my 4th 72 hour fast and I have some interesting observations:
I learned that water is heavier than bodyfat. The scale is up 7-8 lbs out of the 15 I lost due to being rehydrated and of course the weight of food in transit. HOWEVER, my clothes still fit loosely and I am not seeing the scale continue to go up. Good signs.
I opted for fruit and protein foods instead of high fat foods and this has helped me keep calories low enough to maintain and not regain between fasts. I was worried that I would go right back to my old weight. But no matter how many times I eat fruit and veggies during the day, it doesn’t seem to cause weight gain for me.
I can’t do snake juice or any liquid fasts. I’m the do or die type in that any consumption makes me want to eat anyway. I’d rather just dry fast periodically.
Refeeds aren’t as tricky as I thought they’d be. As long as I break the fast with coconut water, I can pretty much eat any whole food after the dry fast without discomfort (except the one time when I ate 2 lbs of cucumbers… never again!)
I’m a fed 187 now (down from 195) and looking to reach 170 soon.
EDIT: Since my last fasts were Thursday through Sunday, I plan to do that again this week. This is so I can still eat dinner with hubby. I’ll do Dry OMAD between fasts to maintain my weight.
