Be patient!
IF really “hits” around 6-8 weeks in my experience. It feels like it should be more effective sooner but it just doesn’t seem to be. I finally saw scale results at about 7 weeks.
Keep being mindful of your calories
And as far as exercise, try to add in extra walking whenever possible, preferably without noticing it. Such as, park in the back of the parking lot (or at least the middle, don’t try to get the closest spot), use the restroom furthest away at work, when unloading groceries from the car take a total of 2 bags at a time instead of 5-10. Things like that really bumped my step count
“as fast as I imagined”.
Results and timeline are different from everyone.
The fact you are getting some results is to be celebrated.
Firstly, congratulate yourself on this positive change that you have made for yourself. Don’t be too hard on yourself.
If the progress stops then maybe start treating it as a problem (not a worry).
Slower weight loss has its own benefits:
You will lose weight eventually. Fast for health reasons over aesthetics.
If you still feel stressed or demotivated, speak to a doctor and maybe they can recommend something like a blood test to get to the specifics.
Stressing (raises insulin) can make you gain weight or slow weight loss so try to enjoy and relax.
I personally recommend green tea as it promotes autophagy, fat loss and has an amino acid which is calming and will relax you.
Hi there, 41F. My husband and I have been fasting together since December 19th, 2022. At first, I didn’t see much happening. Like you, I’m currently not on a dedicated exercise program. I only walk around my area casually and chase after my 4 y/o daughter.
I am proud to say that after 2 months of 18:6 fasting, I have lost 11 pounds. Initially, I was hoping to lose weight more quickly, but I think this is a much more sustainable pace for long term health.
My advice, stick with it. Not gonna lie, I so wanted to devouring the Skor bars sitting in my baking cupboard last night, but I stayed strong.
You’ve got this. Slow and steady wins the race.
50F here, after about 3 months, I started tracking calories with Lose it app because I really didn’t have a clue about portion sizes. I highly recommend it. I’ve stayed on track with 16:8 or 18:6 and about 3-4 lb/month loss which is what I was hoping for.
Just try to be mindful to eat healthy when u do eat. Rapid weight loss is really hard on the body. You don’t want it. Can cause organ damage, dehydration, metabolic distress amongst other things.
Be that slow and steady turtle that changes her eating habits for the better while using the fasting to get some extra help. By the end, it would be ideal to not be intermittent fasting forever, but instead have developed a better approach towards food.
