What psychological benefits did you experience?

I want to start fasting (one meal a day), but not for weight loss. I can way more effectively lose weight eating 5 meals a day, but the reason I wanted to try out IF was more so the mental aspect. I am a student/programmer, and wanted to reach my maximum mental potential, and have recently made a plan to become work acholic to my projects and skills that I wish to acquire, and I wanted to know how OMAD/fasting helped you and if it will benefit me or rather hold me back? \-Many thanks.

Answer

Starting your day by doing something that you dont really want to do (fast, exercise, meditate, etc); gives you a feeling of confidence that remains for 24 hours. But - your brain uses a lot of energy and will not work as well at the beginning of a fast (as your blood sugar is dropping) so you need to manage this. I find 2 meals a day - lunch and dinner works well for me.

I’ve done OMAD for over 3 years. Love it! Started eating lunch but mostly eating dinner. At this point this is normal eating. No desire to eat more often. I’d hate going back.

Try it and see how you feel mentally. Different people have different experiences. I personally didn’t see a big difference. Others do. But the health benefits (never get sick), weight loss/maintenance (which was big for me), never being hungry or craving food, feeling more energetic/active, …

I consider this hugely life enhancing. Recommend it highly.
