There’s no ‘bad’ food that you can eat; there’s just foods you should eat in moderation, and making sure you don’t overeat. (A tdee calculator like https://tdeecalculator.net can help; aim to eat under your resting/maintenance number. Unless you’re breastfeeding, then you should research that.)
Fruit is fine. It’s mostly water and fiber, and the natural sugars in it aren’t as hard on your insulin levels as the sugar in candy. In fact, other than things with a lot of processed sugar and/or high fructose corn syrup, carbs should not be “scary.”
Just try to eat fresh foods, and avoid processed stuff. So fewer frozen things, boxed things, and instant things. If it doesn’t go bad within a week, ask yourself if you should really be eating it. (Other than protein and fiber rich beans, legumes, etc.)
Don’t avoid fruit. You want some sugar and fruit is one of the best sources. How many bananas do you think you could eat in one day? If you ate 5, that’s no more than 400 - 450 calories. Fruit’s high water content promotes a full feeling. In fact, in my experience, fruit is the very best thing to eat right at the end of your fasting window because the full feeling it provides will hold you over until you sleep. If you’re having trouble with weight loss, avoid DRIED fruit though.
I’d say focus on eating lots of healthy stuff first after you break your fast. A big salad with a mix of greens, other veg, a pulse like chickpeas, some pumpkin seeds and maybe olives, feta, meat.
Really filling, so you won’t have the desire to cram in lots of junk after that.
I disagree with what some others have said. You can’t just eat whatever you want (under calories) if you want to maximize. Ultimately, you want to keep your macros in check, otherwise you may find yourself getting frustrated things aren’t going as fast as you want.
Obviously keep your sanity and eat the treat you want, otherwise we eventually quit. However, the more you can keep the junk out of your diet, the better. Food is fuel, and it should have a purpose on everything you eat. I actually argue against everyone saying fruit - you can take vitamins and supplements to get that. Your diet should remain high in protein and some fat to keep you satiated.
