What works for you?

Hey all, so after having quite bit of success in the past with IF/OMAD I'm determined to get back to that lifestyle. For quite a while my IF lifestyle was going great. I was really disciplined for a long time but complacency set in and I'm now unhappy with my weight again. Been a member of this sub a while now and see so many people hitting their goals in various ways and it's great to see. I've noticed also a lot of people talk about training and exercise. First time I done IF for about 2 years I never once trained. However I've recently purchased some equipment and want to lift weights/ try calisthenics maybe some yoga. Can someone please tell me how you work your IF lifestyle around lifting weights etc. I know I need to provide my body with nutrients and proteins to repair itself etc. What sort of timings do people tend to work to? Any info greatly appreciated. Happy new year!

Answer

Sure, so I do all at home work outs for the most part. Every other day is full body strength training with a sandbag, dumbbells, or just my body weight. Mostly big motions hitting a lot of muscle groups, with only some isolated focus. The off days I’ll try and work in a little cardio on an exercise bike, longer walk with the dog, and I also do a weighted hike on the weekend.

So I do basically all my exercising in the morning fasted, it just works with my schedule the best. On days with strength training I’ll practice 16:8 or OMAD+, mostly to just fit some extra protein into the day, breaking my fast around noon then I eat dinner in the evening before fasting until the next day. On my off days I do OMAD, and then I always do 16:8 on the weekends regardless.

This has worked well for me to continue dropping weight while putting on a little muscle, though mostly maintaining muscle mass until I hit my goals.
