What’s a safe fast for me? 33F 5ft 3 150lbs

Not sure if this is allowed but I’ve been doing intermittent fasting for a while now (more than a year). The longest fast I’ve done is 24 hours. And I managed to lose some weight. But my weight loss has slowed down and I still have another 10-15 lbs I want to lose. I’m planning to try extended fast but curious to understand what’s a safe duration for me considering i don’t have that much weight to lose. I have a pretty sedentary life style but I do work out 4-5 times a week. Im also interested to gain the benefit from autophagy which seems to be maximized if I fast more than 3 days.

Answer

5’3 and 148 and I am about to finish an 84 hour fast with no problem. I never could do IF, but last week I went for a 24, then had no issue extending it to 62 hours. This week I have extended so far at 84 hours with no problem, but am looking forward to lunch today. It is seriously how strong your willpower is. The hunger goes away at day 3 for me and it is completely gone now, I just miss eating lol.

I started last week at 154 and am 148 now.

You should do at least a 4 day fast once. Heck even more would not hurt one bit, provided you nail your electrolyte supplementation better than a bit here and a bit there.

My very first fast was 4 days. I picked that goal because I wanted to see the gamut of feelings. Day three was the most annoying one, I thought about food a lot. Day four was like the sun shining after a stormy day, all those thoughts were gone and no hunger to speak of. You may not care to do long fasts but it is worth to do it at least once to really demystify the short ones you prefer to do.

My daughter who is 5’2” and 137# did it with me. Other than a mild headache from ignoring the electrolytes i put out for her she’s fine.
